Art is so awesome. I know you’re like “yeah yeah whatever…more cliche talk”. But the other day it hit me:
The reason why art is so awesome is that it’s the one thing we do as humans that is completely unnecessary. Yet we find so much enjoyment in it. It makes us think about things in a different light, by forming abstract representations of ideas. It really channels the brain in different ways that we don’t normally do on a daily basis.
And if we ever get visited by aliens, they will be totally confused when they look or listen (or sense) our art. Because they’ll see railroad tracks, jet aircraft, houses etc. And they will understand what those particular things do for us. They are all human creations that help us accomplish things. But art? Art serves no obvious purpose. They just won’t get it. It’s like we already out-smarted them before they even got here
