Anti-Flag is an American punk
rock band. The band was formed
by singer/guitarist Justin
Sane and drummer Pat Thetic in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in
the United States in 1988, and
known for its being frank in
terms of political views. Most
of the band's lyrics have
centered on some critics to
U.S. government and other
sensitive issues. The band
member consists of
singer/guitarist Justin Sane
and drummer Pat Thetic,
guitarist Chris Head, and
singer/bassist Chris #2, who
substitute Jamie "Cock" Towns,
in 1997 who had replaced
original bassist Andy Flag.
Anti-Flag is also known for
their advocacy of reformist
political action groups such
as Greenpeace and Amnesty
International. Lately, the
band have focus on criticism
on the United States financial
crisis, which accomplish to
give large portions of capital
directly towards saving the
national banks.
During the band's starting
years,several line up's was
made . The band failed become
one as a group, and it break
up after playing in just one
show. In 1993, Justin and Pat
reformed the band, now with
Andy Flag on bass.
In 1997, Anti-Flag released
their first album, "Die For
the Government", on New Red
Archives. During the summer of
1997, Andy Flag left the band
because of the sparks between
him and Justin. In 1997,
sometime after Andy's
departure Sean Whelan of
Pittsburgh band the Bad Genes
become the bassist.
