The Band of Skulls are from
Southampton England. I wonder
if that’s another gloomy,
dreary place in England – or
the one geographical location
on the island where the sun
actually shines through on a
near daily basis. This
magnificent band formed in
2004. They are known to be
blues and grunge rock band.
The members include Russell
Marsden on guitar and vocals,
Emma Richardson on bass guitar
(sings sometimes as well), and
Matt Hayward on drums. These
fine mates met in college.
This band was called Fleeing
New York before they became
Band of Skulls. Which makes
sense since Southampton is
across the pond from New York.
But ironic at the same time
since they were never from New
York. On the year of our Lord
2008, Fleeing New York changed
their name to Band of Skulls.
These guys have had some
success on iTunes – they
made it to the prestigious
“Single of the Week” for
the tune “I Know What I
Am”. Wow what a weird age.
They have also played South by
Southwest in Austin Texas
(SXSW). They also covered a
Rolling Stones song called
“Sympathy for the Devil”
– and people seemed to like
it.
Bravo Mates!
