This playlist is a collection
of videos of Blonde Redhead
when they did an in studio
performance at KCRW of Santa
Monica College. To be more
specific this set of videos is
from The Morning Becomes
Eclectic show (which I might
add, you should probably tune
into every once in a while on
KCRW.com).
The band formed in 1993 at the
height of the Alternative
Music scene. It consists of
Amedeo and Simone Pace who
happen to be twins from Milan
Italy. They moved to New York
City where they joined forces
with Kazu Makino from Japan.
It all started out as an
experimental noise band. They
had some issues with taking
themselves seriously at first;
“It took a while until we
could admit that we were a
band.” They started to get
a lot of attention early on in
their career because Sonic
Youth like them. The lead
singer got upset with
attention and wished that no
one would show up their show.
Now come on! Why you going to
do shows if you don’t want
people coming to them. Oooh
we’re too cool for school :)
Their latest sound has jazzy
keyboard work. It kind of
reminds me of Piero Umiliani
mixed with Cibo Matto. The
twins have advice with parents
of twins: don’t dress them
alike!
