The Eagles is an American rock
band. The band was formed by
Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie
Leadon and Randy Meisner in
Los Angeles, California in
1971.
The Eagles is one of the
remarkably successful
recording artists of the 1970
era with five number one
singles, six Grammies, and six
number one albums, . At the
end of the 20th century, two
of their albumsnmely "Their
Greatest Hits" and "Hotel
California" was ranked by
Recording Industry Association
of America as the 20
best-selling albums in the
U.S.. Ranked 37th in Rolling
Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of
All Time was the album "Hotel
California and the band was
ranked #75 on the list of the
100 Greatest Artists of All
Time in 2004."Their Greatest
Hits" was their best selling
album in the U.S. which sold
more than 29 million copies.
They have sold over 120
million albums through out the
world and 100 million in the
U.S. only. They are the fifth
highest selling music attained
in U.S. history and the
highest selling American band
in U.S. history. During
1970's, no other band in
America that sold more than
the Eagles.
In July 1980, The Eagles split
up , but they regroup in 1994
for "Hell Freezes Over", a mix
of live and new studio
tracks.They have toured
frequently since then and in
1998 they were initiated into
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
. In 2007, the band released
their first full studio album
"Long Road out of Eden" in 28
years. The album will top the
album charts, release five
singles on the Adult
Contemporary Charts and the
band win two Grammy awards.
The following year the Eagles
launched "The Long Road out of
Eden" Tour in support of the
album.
