Electronic Light Orchestra or
ELO was a British rock group
from Birmingham formed by Roy
Wood and Jeff Lynne to create
"modern rock and pop songs
with classical overtones". But
despite the group's singles'
success in the UK, they became
more successful in the US.
The group were able to release
eleven studio albums from 1971
to 2001.
ELO has also placed in the UK
and US Top 40 and Top 20 hit
singles and they hold the
record of having "the most
Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits
of any band in US chart
history without ever having a
number one single."
