The Guy Mariano story might be
one of the most incredible
stories in the history of
skateboarding (thus far). Just
watch the Epicly Laterd series
in this playlist to understand
why.
Or you can read about it
here...(in a short condensed
version :)
Basically, Guy started out on
Powell Peralta back in the
late 1980s. He was in a skate
video called "Ban This".
Stacey Peralta (co owner of
Powell Peralta) knew that Guy
was a natural skateboarder
when he was just a kid. Stacey
was responsible for scouting
Tony Hawk and Steve Caballero
too.
Now to understand what a
natural he is, just watch his
Video Days part. That came out
in 1991, when Guy was about
eh... I would say 14 or 15. If
you watch his lines and his
style - you'll understand that
type of skating was light
years ahead of it's time.
Flash 5 years later and you'll
notice his Mouse part is still
legendary. I see a similarity
between Guy and Tom Penny, but
maybe that's just me. They
both have that effortless
style and that mysterious way
about them.
Not too long ago, Guy went
through some very tough times
in his life. He somehow got
through it and made an insane
come back part that's unreal.
Just watch the Epicly Laterd
videos - it's seriously mind
blowing.
