James Pants

James Pants is a legendary DJ
from the grand state of
Washington. I find his music
great for gettin silly, or
just loungin around...

He is currently on Stones
Throw Records which seems to
be a label that I really like
these days. They pump out
really good music. Dam Funk
and Mayer Hawthorne are also
some artists worth checking
out.

I would have to say James
Pants would be someone I would
want to play music with. He
doesn’t really stick to any
particular genre, which makes
for endless creativity. And
on top of that I bet he owns a
bunch of rad instruments we
could mess around with. It’s
always good to have a jam
partner with lots of
instruments. He just seems to
make music that feels right at
the time. You can hear some
soul, some electronic, some
funk, a little hip hop in
there…all the good stuff.

His music videos are
particularly humorous. It’s
probably just the style in
which they are shot. There is
a scene in one of his videos
where he throws a candy bar at
a car that is trying to run
him over. I love that scene.
That’s exactly what I would
do if a crash test dummy was
trying to kill me.
