Mad Professor (born with the
name Neil Joseph Stephen
Fraser) is a dub music
producer and engineer that is
known with his remix and
original productions . He was
born in 1955 in Georgetown,
Guyana. He is cited as one of
the top producers of the
second wave of dub music and
it is instrumental in
transforming dub in the
computer era. He is a
productive producer that
produce about 200 albums. He
work with several artists such
as Robbie, Pato Banton, Jah
Shaka, Horace Andy, The Orb,
and Brazilian DJ Marcelinho da
lua, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Sly,
Sade, Massive Attack.

He moved from Guyana to London
when he is 13 years old and
afterwards he start as a
service technician (stepping
stone in his music career). He
start recording and mixing
music devices and bulid his
own four-track recording
studio "Ariwa Sounds" in 1979
in his house in Thornton
Heath. He recorded first the
lovers rock bands and start
recording his first album
after moving in Peckham in
1982, which equipped with an
eight-track setup and soon
upgraded to sixteen. His "Dub
Me Crazy" set of albums was
supported by John Peel which
frequently played tracks in
the said album.
