Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam
(born 18th July 1975) is a
British singer, songwriter,
activist, record producer and
rapper better known as M.I.A.
She became a well-known figure
in 2004 with her songs
“Galang” and
“Sunshowers” that she
shared online. She is not
following an empirical formula
when it comes to music. She
has produced various styles of
music and has described her
music being of the “other”
genre.

She released her first album
“Arular” in the year 2005.
And in 2007 she came up with
the album “Kala”. Her
single “Boyz” was a huge
success in both Britain and
North America. Her third album
was released recently in 2010
with the title “Maya”
which became a huge hit
worldwide. The single
“XXXO” was the most famed
song of the album. She has
twice been nominated for the
Grammy and once for the
“Academy Awards”

M.I.A is one of the most
followed musicians of the new
era. She has a fan following
in millions. She has been
placed in the Time Magazine
list of the world’s 100 most
influential people. She has
performed at various major
occasions. She is a trend
setter and has become a
fashion designer and symbol
over the years. She is sure to
