Muse is an alternative rock
band from Devon England. The
line up includes Matthew
Bellamy, Dominic Howard and
Christopher Wolstenholme.
These mates got together in
1994 where they all met up in
Teignmouth Community College
back in the early 1990s. Like
most musicians, every member
was playing in other bands in
the time and eventually joined
forces.
Just prior to the creation of
Muse, Bellamy and Howard were
in a Gothic band called Rocket
Baby Dolls where they played
at a local Battle of The Bands
and won the competition which
was partially attributed to
them smashing their equipment
on stage. Even though
destructive stage performance
wasn’t original thing to do
(The Clash did it too years
before), this act of equipment
destruction won over the crowd
and pushed them to a point
where they decided to “take
themselves more seriously”.
They chose the name Muse
because one of the guys heard
it used in art class and
thought the four letter word
would look good on a poster.
Celine Dion was planning a
show in Las Vegas and she was
going to call it Muse. The
band Muse threatened Celine
Dion with legal action because
they didn’t want people to
be confused thinking that they
were her backing band.
Enjoy!
