Napalm Death is a grindcore
band. formed by Nic Bullen
and Miles Ratledge in May 1981
in the village of Meriden near
Birmingham, in the United
Kingdom. The band members are
vocalist Mark "Barney"
Greenway, bassist Shane
Embury, guitarist Mitch Harris
and drummer Danny Herrera.
None of the original members
remain in the group, this
lineup has remained for most
of the band's career.
Napalm Death are given
creditsgiving essentials to
the grindcore genre by mixing
elements of hardcore punk and
hort songs, fast tempos, deep
guttural vocals and
sociopolitical lyrics and
death metal. The Napalm Death
debut album Scum, released in
1987 by Earache Records,
proved to be influential
throughout the entire metal
community. They return to Rich
Bitch studio and recorded
their second album: From
Enslavement to Obliteration. A
follow up release to the album
comes the six song 12" EP
"Mentally Murdered", take
slightly different sound,
which is the blending of
death metal and grindcore. It
was recorded in Slaughterhouse
Studios. During this time,
Napalm Death was featured on
national tv in the United
Kingdom in BBC 2 (a heavy
metal special by Arena).
Napalm Death released 14
studio albums and are recorded
by Nielsen SoundScan as the
7th best-selling death metal
band in the United States.
