Nirvana was a rock band formed
by Kurt Cobain
(singer/Guitarist) and Krist
Novoselic (bassist) in 1987.
They earned a lot in such a
short period of time. They
changed the face of rock music
over the course of few years
even though the band always
struggled to find a permanent
drummer.
By 1988 Nirvana was doing
shows locally and in the 1989
they launched their first
album titled “Bleach”.
Although it was not very well
responded by the audience in
America, but it got reasonable
response in Britain. In 1991
they released their second
album under the label of
Geffen. The Album was called
“nevermind” and composed
of hard and screaming songs.
The most popular of which was
the “Smells like Teen
Spirit”. The Album got great
response by the audience and
sold 10 million copies. This
made Kurt Cobain and Krist
Novoselic overnight
millionaires and gave them
overnight stardom.
Cobain was distressed at the
way his music was attracting
wrong kind of fans. He got
into drugs and made several
suicide attempts. And the
last one was in the April of
1994 which finally took his
life. The band disbanded
shortly after this. Although
no longer producing music,
Nirvana is still popular among
teens and their music is an
inspiration for the new
comers.
