A tremendously awesome band
from the 1980s. You can’t
have a Halloween party without
rocking Boingo’s Dead
Man’s Party. That song
always reminds me of the move
the Lost Boys for some reason.
The band leader, Danny Elfman
went on to be an amazing
Hollywood Musical Score
composer.
This playlist is a real treat
because it features videos
from the band's past that are
not your typical MTV music
videos. There are a lot of
strange and weird appearances
by the band on different
television show. In addition
there is excellent old concert
coverage.
The band started in 1972 as
The Mystic Knights of the
Oingo Boingo. Back in the
early 70s it was a comedy
troupe but as the years
progressed the group turned
into a ska new wave band.
In the 1990s Oingo Boingo
would put on a Halloween
concert every year. It became
the premier event to attend in
the Los Angeles area during
those years on Halloween.
Listeners of KROQ would jam
the phones, hoping for free
tickets to the concert. It
would be nice if Danny would
bring that back : )
