I thought Quantic was a group
but it's actually just one
guy: Will Holland. He mixes
funk, soul, salsa, and jazz
into meaty beatie music. What
a great man. Thank you Will!
Everyone always asks him to
classify what genre he is in
and he can't answer the
question simply because he
derives his music from so many
other genres.
I don't recommend working to
this music because it can make
you sleepy. Sometimes his
tracks get slow and smooth -
soothing rather. Maybe listen
to this at the dentist office
while they grind your teeth
down.
Being a fan of Mr. Scruff, it
was easy to get into Quantic.
Then I learned that Quantic
and Mr. Scruff did joints
together and it all made
sense. Typical British dance
beat instrumental stuff (did I
just classify it?) that I tend
to love.
About the name Quantic: Will
Holland was a mathematician
and while he was studying math
in college he decided the best
way to describe a whole with 2
or more variables.
This music is good if you like
latin jazzy music. Good for
coffee shops and loungey
environments. If you are into
this stuff I also recommend
St. Germain, DJ Shadow, RJD2
and Ted Nugent.
