Regina Ilyinichna Spektor
(born 1980) is a Russian-born
American singer/ songwriter
and pianist. She spent her
childhood in Russia, giving
her great help and unique
style in music. She started
learning piano from a very
young age. She along with her
family emigrated from Russia
and settled first in Austria
and Italy before finally
coming in the USA.
Initially she studied and had
interest in classical piano
but later she got into the
genre of rock and Hip-Hop. She
is no doubt a versatile
artist. She was already a good
piano player but later on
became a good singer and
songwriter too. She discovered
her interests over a series of
events.
She released her debut album
“11:11” in 2001 that
allowed her to perform at
local gigs. These regular
performances let her to come
up with her new album
“Songs” in the year 2002.
Gradually she developed a fan
following and collaborated
with respected names in music
to come up with her third
album “Soviet Kitsch” in
2004. She performed on tours
with names like The Strokes,
Moldy Peaches, etc. which
improved her profile further.
In 2006 she came up with her
4th Album “Begin to Hope”
that became hugely popular.
Her latest album “far” was
released in 2009. She has
produced quality music which
has been included in numerous
movies and TV shows. She has
gradually gained fame and
respect for her fine music.
