Sizzla Kalonji or just Sizzla
(born with the name Miguel
Orlando Collins) is a Jamaican
reggae musician. He was born
in 1977 in Kingston, Jamaica.
His parents is a devouted to
the Restafari movement. Like
his parents, he joined in the
Bobo Ashanti branch of the
Restafari movement.
He start to create his own
style while helping with the
Caveman Hi-Fi sound system as
an apprentice. He used his
music as a tool for his
message. In 1995, his first
recording career begin with
the release for the Zagalou
label. He later combined with
Robert "Bobby Digital" Dixon
for a set of singles.
Homer Harris (the same man who
give name and teached Buju
Banton) gave him his first
break, he introduced Sizzla to
Dean Fraser who is the top
Jamaican saxophonist and the
musical director for
"Xterminator Family" which
owned by Philip "Fatis"
Burrell. In 1996, it is marked
as an important time for
Sizzla when he start working
with Fatis. This unification
that leads to have a
successful singles and the
release of his debut album
which entitled "Burning Up".
In October 21, 1997 was the
released of his third studio
album entitled "Praise Ye Jah"
on Xterminator. It is written
by himself and produced by
Philip "Fatis" Burrell.
