With another son of Bob Marley
leading the torch that “Tuff
Gong” has left behind, there
is no doubt that the legacy of
reggae music that Bob has left
with us continues to expand
through his children. In this
case, we’re talking about
Stephen Marley, who much like
most of his family members,
also pursues a full-time
career in reggae music.
In his early days, he was a
part of the Ziggy Marley & The
Melody Makers that put out
several successful albums in
the eighties, but his skills
as musician is just part of
the story as he has also
undertaken the role as a
producer during his career,
and which is also one of the
reasons why he has five
Grammys to his credit.
Ever since he began performing
at the age of eight with The
Melody Makers, the new
millennium found Stephen
combining efforts with his
brother Damian to release
“Welcome to Jamrock” that
was not only commercially
successful but was also
considered a critical success
as well.
Since then on, his producing
efforts have gained from
strength to strength, in
producing more and more music
with several renowned reggae
artists but in particular with
his younger brother, Damian.
And ever since he released his
debut album in 2007 titled
“Mind Control”, he has
also dedicated his efforts to
touring with notable artists
such as Snoop Dogg and
Slightly Stoopid as well as
releasing his latest single
titled “Jah Army”.
