Henry Saint Clair Fredericks
(born May 17th, 1942) is an
American singer, songwriter,
composer and a
multi-instrumentalist. Better
known by his stage name Taj
Mahal, he is a well renowned
blues musician. He was exposed
to the music world at a very
young age. He was raised in a
musical background. He has
been able to reinvent the
style and spirit of blues
music.
He is in the music industry
for well over 4 decades and
has achieved what others could
not. His influence on the
blues music is huge, and has
been able to diffuse other
styles of music into the blues
music. We can see great
influence of African, South
Pacific and Caribbean style of
music in his work. His work
has been well received all
over the world. He has won two
well deserved Grammy Awards
for “Best Contemporary Blues
Album” in 1997 and 2000. He
is associated with several
labels including Columbia
Records, Warner Bros. Records
etc.
He has produced dozens of
albums and compilations. He is
still active in his music. His
music has been featured in
many movies. He is a true
living legend and his work
will always remain alive for
decades to come.
